DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A new exhibit has opened for the summer at the Perot Museum of Nature & Science in Dallas. It is called Recycle Reef, and the highlight of the display is a large reef ? similar to a coral reef ? made entirely of donated recyclables. The display includes a variety of items ? papers, plastics, glass ? and helps to show off what can be recycled.
The exhibit also shows visitors how to reuse recyclable materials, turning them into something new and extraordinary. In fact, everything in the summer-long exhibit is made from recycled materials? including the sign that tells visitors that everything in the summer-long exhibit is made from recycled materials. When the exhibit ends in August, the entire thing will be broken down and pulped, then reused for something else.
Visitors can even help expand the exhibit this summer, bringing in their own recycled goods to add to the reef, watching it expand and grow as the summer drags on into August. So, the reef you see at the end of June will look entirely different from the one that will be featured in the exhibit?s final weeks.
Also on display outside of the Perot Museum is a special boat that was made entirely of plastic bottles. Click here to see more about the boat.
Visit the museum?s website for additional information, including times and ticket prices. Visitors are urged to purchase their tickets online to help avoid crowds.
