BCCI reveals Pakistan itinerary ? Cricket News Roundup ? Part III ? November 1, 2012

The Board of Control for Cricket in India today announced dates and venues for its short home series against Pakistan later this year.

India and Pakistan are scheduled to play three ODIs and two T20 Internationals between December 25 and January 6. The Pakistan cricket team will arrive in India on December 22 and will open the tour with a T20 International in Bangalore three days later. The second T20 encounter will be hosted by Ahmedabad on December 27. The three ODI series gets underway in Chennai on December 30, and will be followed by matches at Eden Gardens, Kolkata (January 3) and Delhi (January 6).

It is pertinent to mention here that the arch-rivals have not played each other in a bilateral series since end-2007, when Pakistan toured India.

South African Test captain Graeme Smith on Thursday penned a three-year deal with Surrey County Cricket Club.

The 31-year-old left-handed opener will replace Rory Hamilton Brown at the Kia Oval and will remain the skipper of the Surrey outfit until the end of 2015 season. Though excited at the signing, Smith has made clear that the country remains top priority for him.

?I?m excited about what we can achieve at Surrey going forward and would like to state very clearly that I will balance my new role alongside my continuing commitments to the Proteas and I look forward to continuing to represent my country for many years to come,? said Smith, a veteran of 102 Tests and 186 One Day Internationals, while speaking to media reporters after signing the three-year deal at the Kia Oval.

Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is looking forward to his spinners to do the bulk for the Men in Blue in their forthcoming four-match Test series against England.

?It?s been a while since I have seen spinners dominating a Test match. I?d want to see that against England,? said Dhoni at the launch of his gym Sportsfit. ?We usually take the advice from the curators before a game. He knows the wicket best. We generally put in a requisition on the type of pitch we would prefer for a game,? he added further.

The four-match Test series between India and England gets underway in Ahmedabad on November 15, 2012.
