Parting Schotts: Report: Rome expected to join CBS Sports Radio

Jim Rome's radio show could be ready for a change of networks.

Deadspin is reporting that Rome is expected to leave Premiere Radio Networks for CBS Sports Radio. CBS Sports Radio will launch Jan. 2, 2013.

Rome, who has been with Premiere since 1996, would be the big name the network needs. It already signed Doug Gottlieb away from ESPN. Gottlieb will host a show from 3-6 p.m.

The move from Premiere to CBS Sports Radio makes sense. Rome has a show on CBS Sports Network, and will be contributing to other CBS Sports properties.

Rome's departure from Premiere would create a void for stations that carry his show. FOX Sports Radio 980 (WOFX) airs Rome's show. Would CBS Sports Radio allow WOFX, a FOX Sports Radio affiliate, to carry the program, or would it demand that it switch to CBS Sports Radio.

Stay tuned.
