I understand that this topic might seem out of place on a New York Jets blog. But please, bear with me.
I was sent this article earlier, and after reading it, I was struck by the impact of an answer to an innocuous question. As you'll see by reading the article, Tina from Staten Island checked herself for breast cancer as a result of seeing the pink Breast Cancer Awareness gear worn by members of the Jets through the month of October. As a result, she was diagnosed and successfully cured of cancer.
I just want to take a moment to step away from football and make a simple request to everyone that reads this to take a moment to talk to the women in your life about undergoing breast cancer exams. My grandmother passed away due to breast cancer approximately two years before I was born. As a result, I was never able to meet her. Early diagnoses of cancer can be the difference between life and death.
Thank you.
