Sports Digest: College Rowing, Baseball - Tarrytown-Sleepy Hollow ...

Welcome to Patch's snapshot of sports in Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow.

Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow alum in this latest college-round from Dick Miller:

At the New England Rowing Championship at Worcester on May 12th,?Caroline Bishop?of Hackley and the Smith College Varsity 3 crew out-stroked Wellesley, 7:08 to 7:11. She also topped Tufts, 7:14 to 7:22.

In a game at Fairfield University on May 4th,?Max Bruckner?of Sleepy Hollow and Iona, was the losing pitcher in a 16-3 game with the Stags. He pitched 2.1 innings, gave up six runs on nine hits, walked and fanned one batter each, and now has a record of 2-8 on the campaign.

At the Centennial Conference Championships at Ursinus on May 5th,?Darnell Davis?of Hackley and Muhlenberg's 4x400 team finished in fourth place with a time of 43.40. This qualified him for the upcoming IC4A championships at Princeton on May 11th and 12th.

At the NCAC Championship, held at Kenyon College on May 4th,?Kendra Epstein?of Hackley and the Denison College 4x100 team, finished fourth, with a clocking of 49.25. Their Big Red team finished in third place in the tournament, behind Ohio Wesleyan and Oberlin.

At home on May 5th in the Ivy League Championship game,?Samantha Erosa?of Sleepy Hollow and the University of Pennsylvania had two doubles, scored one run, and had 2 putouts and 3 assists in the win over the Big Green of Dartmouth College. The final score was 3-2, Quakers, and she made the final putout to propel her nine into the upcoming NCAA playoffs, which begin on May 16th.

In a ten inning loss to Johns Hopkins on Apr. 30th, Muhlenberg catcher?Conor McDermott?of Hackley made three putouts and had one assist in the 6-5 loss. It was his final appearance of the year.

At the Atlantic 10 Track and Field Championships, held at Charlotte, N.C. on May 4th and 5th,?Genevieve Ruppel of Sleepy Hollow and St. Joseph's University, was 28th in the women's 100 Meter Dash, with a clocking of 12:92. In the Long Jump, she placed 19th, going 17- 1 and 1/2 feet. Her team was tenth overall in the meet.
